Flood Updates

Update - Tuesday, June 28th
June 28, 2022

unnamed.jpg

Greetings!

As you can see from the photo above (#4 fairway), Paul and crew were able to start aerating the fairways today and should be finished tomorrow.  We continue to use the broom sweeper on the skid steer, drag the hallow, and rebuild cart paths.  There is still a lot of work ahead to get the course open but we are making great progress.

More to come!

Member-Guest/Member Tournament
June 24, 2022

Unfortunately due to the flood we have decided to cancel the Member-Guest/Member Tournament scheduled for July 9th & 10th.  Good news is this will open the course up to regular play.

Volunteers Still Needed!
June 23, 2022

It's been a very productive morning! The skid steer and broom are working great and Paul (and crew) have completed the green aeration process.

There is still a lot of clean up to be done and we still need volunteers.  Todays projects include cleaning up the muck in front of #3 green, #6 green, and picking up debris throughout the course and putting it into piles for the grounds crew to pick up.

Please call the shop if you plan on coming out today or this evening so we can game plan who to send where.

Your help is very much appreciated!

Course Update
June 21, 2022

Good Afternoon!

The course is coming along nicely.  Unfortunately the rain the last couple days has delayed us from being able to get equipment where needed.  Our hope is to aerate the greens Thursday and fairways next week.  We do have an issue on #4 fairway with silt and mud build up and already have a skid steer with a bristle broom scheduled to be delivered tomorrow evening.  I'm sure there will be more to talk about at the board meeting tomorrow night.

Thank You

DRIVING RANGE IS OPEN!!!
June 17, 2022

DRIVING RANGE IS OPEN!!!

Local authorities are allowing people to drive past the Road Closed sign but not past the barricade, which has been moved just past the driving range entrance.

Weekend Update
June 17, 2022

Wow, what a turnout yesterday! THANK YOU to those of you that pitched in and are probably sore today!  Also, a big thanks to Charlie Piluso for providing the pizza.

The urgent issues were taken care of but we still have a long ways to go.  Volunteers have been out all morning working and we can always use more.  Again, please check in at the clubhouse so we can point you in the right direction.  We will continue to ask for volunteers to work on projects everyday (including weekends) until we are able to open.

Urgent!
June 16, 2022

We are in desperate need of help clearing #8 green before it suffocates and we lose it!  Let's have a work party tonight and get it done!  Come down for pizza and a drink on us! Bring your shovels.

Shovel Help Needed!
June 16, 2022

The pump is running and the process of clearing mud off the greens has started!  We are asking for volunteers to come down and help shovel...even it's for a half hour!  We do have a few shovels but if you can please bring a flat nose shovel that would be great.  A couple of things, if you do plan on coming down to help, please call the clubhouse first so we know where the crew is at in the process.  I would hate for someone to come down and we are done with what we are able to do for the day.  Also, please check in at the clubhouse when you get here so someone can run you out to the job site as there is only one way in and one way out.  We do not want people driving themselves out on the course.

Thank You!

Grounds Update
June 15, 2022

There is still a lot of water on the course!  Paul is cautiously optimistic with what he is able to see so far.  There is a lot of debris, logs, and mud but it doesn't appear to be too much damage yet.  Paul needs to check the irrigation system first and is hoping to open the control boxes tomorrow to assess.  The range just needs to dry and the parking lot repaired.  If all goes well we are hoping to be able to open the range early to mid next week. Thanks to Kodie Miller for providing a trash pump, which we hope to start using tomorrow.

Hopefully you have been able to see our quick video on Facebook from today on the turf conditions.

We are also working with our web page designer to add a "Flood Update" tab to post pictures, videos and future communications.

Here's to sun and wind!

Flood and Club Operation Update
June 15, 2022

Good Morning!

The board met with Paul in an Executive Session last night to discuss the effect of the flood on the course and the plan to get the course playable as soon as possible. Unfortunately, until the course dries out enough to be able to drive equipment on it, we are in wait and see mode so to speak. The board, along with Paul, have set goals and mapped out a plan once we get to that point. We will keep you updated throughout this entire process.

As for now, the course and driving range are closed until further notice. However, the putting and chipping greens are open. We know walking to the chipping green the 9th green will be tempting but we ask you to please stay off it for the time being.

Since the course is closed, we have decided to cancel the falling June events but will work to reschedule.

Couples, Women’s, Senior’s, and Men’s Leagues

June 17th - Wine & Nine

June 19th - Father’s Day/US Open Tournament

June 25th - River Runs Through It Memorial Golf Tournament

Please note, as we get closer to July we will assess where we are at in this process and keep you posted on event cancelations.

In regards to the clubhouse, we want to provide access to the bar and golf simulator to all during the course closure. This needs to be done in a fiscally responsible way as we do not have revenue being generated in the golf shop through green fees, cart rentals, range tokens, etc. There for, the board has decided on the following hours of operation for the bar and golf simulator effective immediately: Sunday - Thursday (12pm - 8pm), Friday & Saturday (10am - 10pm). A couple of things to keep in mind, we will stay open until the posted closing times and will stay open later if business allows. Also, these hours are a starting point and will be adjusted if needed.

There is no doubt this historical event is going to have a major affect aesthetically and financially at LGC. We ALL want to be playing golf and enjoying the summer weather (if it ever gets here) but we need to get the course playable in a safe and effective manner.

Notice to Members - Course Closed
June 13, 2022

Notice to All,

The County Commission has informed us the river is expected to rise 4 to 5 feet in the next 6 to 8 hours.  To prepare for worse case scenario we are closing the course.  It is advised if you have a cart in storage to move it to higher ground if possible.  We will continue to monitor and keep you posted.

Thank You
